In the last article we spoke about product selection and printing, now we will talk about the installation.
The best design and best products are all valueless if they are installed poorly. Poor installation can ruin the best of plans. Most major product manufacturers provide training and certification. Here are some important factors regarding your installation:
Surface preparation – improper surface prep (usually occurs to cut time down) will lead to edges and protrusions with adhesion failures. These failures start small and continue to grow if left unchecked.
Installer training – poor installation techniques can lead to vehicle wraps that have wrinkles, bubbles, loose fitting vinyl and improperly placed graphics. Installation is part technique and part art. Experience and planning lead to a better looking wrap.
Installer skill – besides the bubbles and wrinkles, detail trimming is very important and is contributes heavily to the final look of your wrap. Knowing how to install around non-flat surfaces is critical to the longevity and final visual you will get on your wrap.
Installation time – It is important to leave enough time to do a proper installation. For example, compound curves should be heated post installation to help set them in place permanently. Cutting and trimming are important final touches, but take precious time.
All three of these aspects of the wrapping process are important. Don’t ignore or neglect any one of them if you wish to get the best final product. If you have any questions regarding any of these topics please feel free to call us at (630) 289-7082
